About Synaptosearch

An Amsterdam-based transdisciplinary research firm connecting the disciplines that shape how we understand mind, knowledge, and the world.

Connecting What Shouldn't Be Separated

Synaptosearch was founded in Amsterdam in 2024 by Behrang Mehrparvar. We connect scholars across Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Software Engineering to solve real-world problems no single discipline can solve alone.

We call this transdisciplinarity — a mode of inquiry that goes beyond multidisciplinary collaboration. It combines knowledge from many fields, includes both academic and non-academic insight, and creates genuinely new, unified understanding.

Why Transdisciplinarity — and Why Now

Each domain has drifted into its own silo. The connections between them are the very thing we need.

🌙

Mysticism is dismissed

Considered superstition by mainstream discourse, despite containing direct experiential knowledge about the nature of reality that science has not yet formalized.

💭

Philosophy lacks application

Often seen as impractical and unable to reach consensus — yet the deepest questions about existence, ethics, and meaning cannot be answered without it.

🔬

Science operates in closed loops

Hypothesis generation within existing frameworks rarely challenges the assumptions underneath them. Progress slows when the framework itself is the constraint.

⚙️

Technology follows money

Most technology is driven by economic incentives rather than human need. This produces powerful tools that optimize for the wrong objectives.

Most importantly: there is very little or no connection and alignment between the four. That is what we are here to change.

Founded on a Question

Behrang Mehrparvar is a cognitive scientist, AI researcher, and software engineer with a lifelong interest in the philosophy of mind. The question that drove him was deceptively simple: why do the most important problems — consciousness, meaning, genuine human connection — remain unsolved despite centuries of effort?

The answer, he concluded, was structural: the people who could collectively solve them were working in different buildings, publishing in different journals, and speaking languages the others couldn't read. Synaptosearch was founded to fix that translation problem — and to build the tools and frameworks that emerge when those conversations finally happen.

The firm remains small and intentionally so. We value quality over quantity, collaboration over competition, and sustainable pace over aggressive growth.

Eight Principles We Work By

01

Learn from the past

Avoid repeating others' mistakes by studying what has already been tried.

02

Observe continuously

Prioritize ongoing observation and understanding over fixed assumptions.

03

Quality over quantity

Fewer, deeper contributions matter more than volume.

04

People first

Human connection takes priority above all other considerations.

05

Service, not profit

We orient toward what is useful, not what is profitable.

06

Trust over agreement

We seek genuine trust — not surface agreement that hides deeper misalignment.

07

Collaborate, don't compete

Progress comes from building together, not racing against each other.

08

Sustainable pace

Work that lasts is done at a pace that doesn't deplete the people doing it.

How We Think About Pricing

Our pricing model considers three factors: covering our operational expenses, what a client can afford, and fair compensation for the work we do.

We don't publish fixed rates because no two engagements are alike. We always offer a free initial meeting — use it to understand whether we are the right fit before any commitment is made.
